Every New Yorker should read this book.

I learned about Colson Whitehead's book last week through an interview he did for a Daily Intel weekly series. Here's what caught my attention:

What makes someone a New Yorker?
“You’re a real New Yorker when blah blah … ” I wrote a whole book about it, why don’t you check it out?

So I did.

The Colossus of New York
is a short but excellent read that every lover of this city should experience. Yes, experience. The chapters are broken down into every day moments like your morning commute, Broadway, and the subway. Regardless of whether you've been here once or have lived here for 28 years, you can and will connect with Whitehead's words.

Pick up a copy next time you're floating around Borders or Strand. Read it, love it, and pass it along.
