Did she melt?

Happy Halloween ladies and gents.

Friday night lights.

The city is at its most beautiful from afar. Up close, it's nonstop. Crowded streets. Crowded restaurants, bars, and parks. Jammed highways and side streets. One hundred different people making one thousand different noises. But from the distance and over the hum of the BQE the lights of midtown and downtown are calming. It, as in city city, is there but it's not. It's reachable but far enough away that I can hear jet planes overhead. It's, well - nice over here. And by nice I mean Brooklyn.

Side note - if you have 4 hours of your life to spare, I highly suggest searching You Tube for planes. Plane landings, take off's, whatever. Crashes if you're sick. Or bored. The above link is just an example of reasons why I'm happy that I fly through JFK on a regular basis.

Imagination necessary.

I chalk tonight's picture up to a long night. "Work" landed me in PJ Clarke's enjoying the "Cadillac" burger - meat, cheese, and bacon. Don't forget the homemade mac 'n cheese made of shells loaded with 4,592 kinds of cheese and a few pounds of peas and bacon. A mouthful of heaven.

This picture is from the bathroom. Look closely enough and you can see the pinstripes there on the wall. Beers. Matsui (Matsuuuuuuuiiiiii) battling tiresome knees, deep right field. Cheers. Beers. Teixeira started earning his postseason paycheck. Burnett too. More cheers. More beers. Victory. Celebration. PJ Clarke's.

Off to Philly for game three Saturday. And work tomorrow. Eff.

Still hell on earth, but now with music.

This guy was playing on the subway platform of the E/V stop tonight. Creative, witty, and distracting from the fact that the V wasn't running anywhere close to schedule.

What rich S ohhh B has a fireplace?

Entering the grocery store tonight I was welcomed not by pumpkins or produce but firewood. Seriously, firewood. In Manhattan? What the eff? Sure I've seen the usual fireplace-turned-decoration in a dusty old walk up. But firewood? For burning? Bogus. And by bogus I mean $11.99 for 4 pieces.

Can I get a holiday check - aisle 6? Holiday check, aisle 6 please.

As the Halloween witch hung from the Duane Reade signage, apparently Easter directions were already in stock.

Rats running amuck at Grand Central.

No, not the ones in the subway tracks (they're borderline cute, come on admit it). The ones I passed today are a hidden architectural detail to the side of the Grand Central. As detailed on Scouting NY last year, the rats are a symbol of the building's previous maritime relationship.

We are!

I know, I'm terrible at this.

Once again I've fallen behind on the daily updates. Pictures have still be taken, fear not readers. I've got plenty to cover from the last month and starting now with this week. Happy Friday. Go State, beat Michigan. Cheers.

This is what fall looks like 70 miles an hour.

Forget what you read about it snowing significant amounts in the northeast. Fall is indeed in full swing.

Welcome back, friends.

Back on the road and back to blogging. No I don't work for Sam Adams - that would be quite fantastic. But I did hold a dinner for interview candidates tonight at a local Binghamton establishment. Went well. Cheers.
